Crystal Palace prepare to square off against Liverpool at Selhurst Park on Sunday and with the Eagles’ having a couple of key players ruled out, Alan Pardew could be forced into making changes to the side that started against Sunderland in midweek.
Speroni in line to make his first appearance of the season
Wayne Hennessey picked up an injury during the clash against Sunderland and it looks very likely that the 29-year old will be missing out the encounter with Liverpool this weekend as a result.
If indeed Hennessey is ruled out, it will pave the way for club legend Julian Speroni to make his first appearance of the season. Alex McCarthy also provides Pardew with an option but with Palace boss seemingly having lost faith in the former Reading stopper, Speroni is the most likely candidate to start this weekend.
Pape Souare available for selection once again
Pape Souare will be available once again after serving his three match suspension and Pardew has already confirmed that the left back will be starting ahead of Martin Kelly this weekend.
In central defence, Scott Dann and Damien Delaney are the undisputed choice and the duo will most certainly have to play very well in order to stop the dangerous Liverpool attacking lineup.
Joel Ward will be taking his place on the right side of defence while the likes of Adrian Mariappa and Brede Hangeland provide Pardew alternative options to choose from.
Mile Jedinak to continue from the start
Mile Jedinak started in the 2-2 draw against Sunderland last time out and following his encouraging performance, the Australian international should continue in the lineup alongside Yohan Cabaye at the middle of the park.
Joe Ledley will have to be content with a place on the bench once again while James McArthur remains sidelined for the clash. In the wide positions, Wilfried Zaha and Yannick Bolasie are certain to be starting and Jordon Mutch is the most likely candidate to play in the hole behind the lone striker.
Bakary Sako has returned from injury as well and the former Wolves star is definitely going to see some action through the substitute’s bench while Lee Chung-Yong is also available.
Wickham a doubt for the clash
Man of the moment Connor Wickham is a doubt ahead of the clash after picking up a knock at the Stadium of Light and Pardew has revealed that the young striker will go through a late fitness test before the weekend’s encounter.
If Wickham misses out, one can expect Emmanuel Adebayor to start and he certainly needs to bring about a drastic improvement in his game in order to stand a chance of breaching the Liverpool backline.
