Defender Scott Dann has revealed that points are more important than good performances for Crystal Palace at the moment
Crystal Palace enjoyed a fine first half to the season but their form has been wretched following the turn of the year.
Palace have failed to claim a single victory in the Premier League since December 19, a run stretching over 11 games and such a terrible streak has meant that rather than challenging for Europe, the Eagles are staring at a fight against the drop.
Due to their strong start, Palace are not embroiled in the relegation dogfight as of yet but if things do not improve soon, the Eagles could find themselves dragged near the drop zone before too long.
Palace defender Scott Dann acknowledges this fact and has stated that the Eagles are now at such a stage of their season that points are more important than performances.
Dann urges his Palace side to get points on the board soon
The 29-year old added that Palace are well aware of the possibility of relegation and revealed that his side are now targeting the magical 40 points before thinking about putting their foot off the pedal.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the game against Liverpool, the former Blackburn star said, “When you look at the league, we are starting to slip down and every game you end up being closer (to the relegation zone). At this stage of the season, it’s all about points rather than performances.
“There are teams scrapping for their lives and we have to do that. Until you get to that 40-point mark, anything can happen. We need to get there as soon as possible.
“The lads are confident we can turn it around. Getting a few players back from injury and Connor (Wickham) scoring a few goals should give us more confidence heading into the last 10 games.
“We know what we are capable of and on our day, we can beat anyone in the league. It’s about recapturing the type of form and the way we were playing previously.”
