Crystal Palace FC identify Blackburn Rovers FC star Shane Duffy as replacement for Scott Dann

Crystal Palace will be making a swoop for Shane Duffy if they lose star defender Scott Dann during the summer, according to reports from the Daily Mirror

Scott Dann has proven to be a revelation since joining Crystal Palace from Blackburn Rovers for a fee of around £6million back in 2014 and the defender has arguably been one of the most important figures in helping the Eagles establish themselves in the Premier League over the past few years.

While Palace have gone through a roller coaster campaign this term, Dann has been a pillar of consistency at the back and it has been no surprise whatsoever in seeing a host of top clubs expressing their interest in signing the centre back.

Recently, it had been widely claimed that Premier League giants Chelsea have shortlisted Dann as one of the potential replacements for John Terry and that the Blues are ready to splash as much as £20million in order to sign the 29-year old.

Duffy wanted by Palace

Whether or not Dann leaves for Chelsea remains to be seen but Palace are well aware of the possibility of losing their star man in the summer and it is believed that manager Alan Pardew has already drawn up contingency plans if indeed the former Birmingham City man departs.

Now according to reports from the Daily Mirror, it has been claimed that Palace will make a swoop for Blackburn Rovers defender Shane Duffy if Dann leaves in the summer.

Duffy has been one of the most consistent defenders around in the Championship and his contribution has limited Blackburn Rovers’ concession of goals to only 31 in 33 matches so far despite the club enduring a very difficult season.

As a result, Duffy has caught the attention of Palace and the Eagles are hopeful of landing the 24-year old for a cut price fee of around £3million as he will enter the final year of his contract at the end of the current campaign.
