Premier League outfit Crystal Palace are in pole position to secure the services of Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick, according to reports from the Croydon Advertiser
Michael Carrick has been a wonderful servant for Manchester United since joining the club from Tottenham Hotspur back in 2006 and having made over 400 appearances, he has been crucial to the Red Devils’ success over the past decade.
Following a couple of lean years, United are expected to go through a lot of changes over the summer and many feel that Carrick will be one of the players who will be heading out of the club as part of their mass overhaul, especially with the midfielder not having been offered a contract extension.
While Carrick may no longer be wanted at Old Trafford, there are a number of clubs interested in the securing the services of the 34-year-old despite his advancing years.
Carrick set for Palace move?
The likes of Arsenal, Newcastle United and West Ham United are all believed to be keen on signing Carrick and recently, even Crystal Palace had been mentioned as an admirer of the midfielder.
Now according to reports from the Croydon Advertiser, claims are being made that Palace are among the favourites to land the services of Carrick this summer. Palace boss Alan Pardew is looking to strengthen his midfield before the start of next season and is believed to be a keen admirer of Carrick’s abilities.
Pardew is open to the idea of signing Carrick on a short term deal this summer and claims emerging out of England state that the Eagles stand a very good chance of luring the former West Ham United star to Selhurst Park.
